Tanktops, wire, aqua resin
56 x 32 x 32”
Tank tops from the artist’s military service in the Whampoa Brigade, Taiwan, 193rd Army, coated in aqua resin.
During the artist’s military service in Taiwan, he continually questioned the structures of the army. Observing how power was treated as a tool, how language functioned as a mechanism of control, and how soldiers were disciplined into interchangeable components of a larger system, he recognized the erosion of individual subjectivity. Within this structure, soldiers come to embody order, weaponry, command, nationhood, politics, and patriarchy, rather than personal identity.
